So much of our immediate environment influences our ability to be generous toward others.
Its my mentality of lack that hinders me.
If I lived in abundance, how much easier would it be to be openhanded.
Deut 15:11 the Lord says:
'Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.'
This seems like a hard rule to swallow!
First, come from God's perspective.
He doesn't want anyone to be lacking - that obviously includes me.
This may be too simple but:
- if we all helped each other, we would all be helped.
- if we all blessed each other, we would all be blessed.
- if all embraced each other, we would all be embraced.
- if we all loved each other, we would all be loved.
This actually doesn't have to stop!
The issue is one of trust.
Do I really believe that God will keep me afloat if I help all those around me?
If I am openhanded with others, will God really be openhanded with me?
Don't you think its time to find out?

Plan your Destiny
I am reading Numbers 35:1 and blown away about God telling the Israelites what to do with the land that they have not yet inherited.
Its amazing!
I just never really thought about it that way.
You would think that once the battles were over and they had arrived, then they would divide up the land.
But no.
'On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho...'
This is where the instructions were given.
How often do we wait to be where God is leading us before we plan what to do?
I am challenged again, this morning, to seek God, not just for my direction but also for what it will look like.
Have it all mapped out before I get there!
Father, speak to us about where we are headed.
Show us what it looks like.
Help us fight the battles that relate to your promises.
